Water sources and beekeeping under NHM

A community water harvesting structure is supported at a higher rate than an individual farm pond, and a tube-well is considered only when integrated with another component. Beekeeping is supported through colonies, hives and equipment sets, with per-beneficiary limits.

Before you spend money: cost norms, rates and conditions can be changed by the Government. This page explains the April 2025 MIDH operational guidelines as written. Confirm the current position with your State Horticulture Department before committing to a project.

Two components that rarely appear in a project plan, and often should.

Water sources

A community water harvesting structure is supported at a higher rate than individual structures, designed to irrigate a stated command area and subject to a storage limit. Individual farm ponds and tube-wells are supported at a lower rate.

One condition is worth knowing before you plan: a tube-well or bore-well is considered only when it is integrated with another component. It is not funded as a standalone item.

Beekeeping

Beekeeping sits under pollination support, with separate cost norms for nucleus stock, colony production by a breeder, hives with colonies, hives alone, and equipment sets. Per-beneficiary limits apply to the number of colonies and to equipment sets.

The framing matters. Beekeeping is supported here because pollination raises horticulture yields, not purely as honey production. That is also why it sits alongside orchards rather than in a separate scheme.
