Before you spend money: cost norms, rates and conditions can be changed by the Government. This page explains the April 2025 MIDH operational guidelines as written. Confirm the current position with your State Horticulture Department before committing to a project.
Not every protected structure is a polyhouse. The guidelines support a range of lighter structures, and the cost norms differ sharply between them.
Shade net house
A tubular or rectangular shade net or agro textile net house carries a cost norm of ₹710 per square metre, with assistance at 50% for a maximum of 4,000 square metres per beneficiary.
The bamboo or cable-purlin version carries ₹450 per square metre at the same 50%, with a per-unit restriction that keeps individual units small.
Tunnels
Plastic or non-woven cloth tunnels carry ₹80 per square metre at 50%. Walk-in tunnels are a different component at ₹720 per square metre, also at 50%, but limited both in the number of units and the size of each unit.
The gap between ₹80 and ₹720 is not a discrepancy. A low tunnel over a vegetable bed and a walk-in structure are different things.
Protective nets
Anti-bird and anti-hail nets carry ₹50 per square metre at 50%. This component has a much larger area ceiling than the structure components, because netting an orchard covers far more ground than a greenhouse.
Choosing between them
The cheapest structure per square metre is not automatically the best value. A shade net house does not give the climate control of a fan and pad polyhouse, and the crops you can grow profitably inside each differ. Work out the crop first, then the structure, then the component.
